Web Developer/Designer/Programmer

Overview:

Global Greengrants Fund believes that everyone deserves a healthy environment. We channels small grants (typically $3,000 to $5,000) to grassroots groups in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and island nations to protect the environment, live sustainably, and gain a voice in their future. Global Greengrants Fund seeks tech-savvy volunteer, intern, or generous professional to offer her/his skills pro bono to help with HTML coding, widget wrapper design, and other highly exhilarating endeavors. Undergraduate and graduate students welcome, as well as other qualified individuals. Internships can be completed for academic credit.

Job Summary:

This duties for this position may be fulfilled remotely. The volunteer web guru supports the Communications Manager in executing a successful and dynamic communications plan. The primary role of this position will be updating and improving our website on the back-end, as well as pursuing other interactive opportunities.  Candidates are expected to have prior knowledge of HTML and CSS.

This is a fantastic opportunity contribute to the mission of internationally-focused environmental nonprofit and improve our communications and fundraising outreach. Depending on the intentions of the candidate, other learning and exposure opportunities are available.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the Communications Manager to turn organizational work and ideas into engaging web pages and applications
  • Better integrate our social media platforms with our website
  • Recognize process deficiencies and help implement effective solutions
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve the website to deepen relationships with donors, influencers, and the community
  • Train staff on website management strategies, as needed

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS a must
  • Experience with web-based applications
  • Familiarity with DreamWeaver and WordPress
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task
  • Fantastic organizational skills and ambition to improve systems
  • Highly proactive and able to take initiative

Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience coding for applications, website, email, and other online channels

Start Date, Compensation, and Hours:

This is an unpaid position, with a flexible schedule—5 to 10 hours/week (or more, if desired). Preferred start date is early to mid-January and end-date is flexible.
