Purpose: To support a project related to land tenure issues associated with Sierra Leone's diamond industry. Specifically, the organization will work to establish a stakeholder platform, and develop a land reclamation and restoration plan for a mine site in the Kono district.

Purpose: To organize a series of workshops to train six communities in techniques to campaign for just mining practices. The workshops will take place in Konor District and will focus on addressing the problem of regional child labor practices in the mining industry.

Purpose: To enable civil society representatives from Mali, Guinea, and Burkina Faso to participate in the annual African Initiative on Mining, Environment and society strategy meeting. The focus of the meeting will be the socio-environmental effects of extractive industries in West Africa, with the goal of advancing innovative mining sector strategies.

Purpose: Friends of the Earth Sierra Leone FOESL advocates policies that improve the quality of life of the people of Sierra Leone by promoting sustainable management of natural resources. This grant provides general support for the organization.
