Purpose: To educate local communities on climate change and provide consultation on how they could contribute to the process and be included in international negotiations on climate change. Project activities will also include providing church leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to educate others on climate change.

Purpose: To promote gender equality in advocating for socioeconomic rights in key economic policies in Zimbabwe. A workshop will be established to sensitize women and youth to issues such as gender, the environment, and economic impacts prevalent in the region.

Purpose: To gather information and track the debt of 54 African countries. This information will serve to monitor the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative and the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative. The organization will prepare country debt profiles for internet publication; 2 policy briefs on debt trends; and provide information to stakeholders about the debt crisis and effectiveness of multilateral initiatives.

Purpose: To translate two guides - Climate Change and Environment and Citizens Guide to Understanding Debt - into local languages to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change on the environment and the critical debate on creditor-initiated debt relief. Additionally the organization will hold public meetings and produce newspaper ads about the issues.

Purpose: To support activist participation in the 2009 Southern Africa Development Community Peoples’ Summit, to be held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, in August. The Summit will focus on social, political, and economic justice and sustainable development in the region, especially as related to the diamond crisis, climate change, food security, and human rights.

Purpose: To enable ten activists to attending the Southern African Social Forum, thereby strengthening regional solidarity, environmental campaigns, and calls for alternatives to international financial institution policies. This organization is an open meeting place for members of civil society to network and engage in solutions to socio-environmental problems.

Purpose: To support the participation of activists from the area in the South African Development Community Peoples' Summit, an annual event where social justice organizations meet to discuss issues affecting the region. This year's focus is on governance and human rights, especially as it relates to the violation of peoples' economic and political rights in Zimbabwe.

Purpose: To support a campaign that educates citizens and policy makers about the effects that current international aid policies have on Zimbabwe, and to engage international financial institutions on these issues. ZIMCODD will focus on such topics as health, education and the environment.

Purpose: To fund travel by three Southern Africa participants to the People's Summit in Singapore. This will strengthen the Network's efforts to campaign for reducing the region's debt burden and promoting alternatives to current aid policies.
