Purpose: To help community members develop a deeper understanding of climate change and its effects. The group will organize 3 village study groups, with 5 villages represented per group, where local communities can share their understanding of climate change and learn farming and other strategies to help them adapt.

Purpose: To support the Zimbabwe Alternative Mining Indaba, which will run during the Zimbabwe Mining Indaba. This Indaba, or meeting, will provide an alternative space for stakeholders to discuss issues of equitable distribution from exploited mineral resources, as well as strengthen the advocacy work of civil society organizations addressing the challenges from the mining sector and improving community livelihoods.

Purpose: To help the Epworth community in Zimbabwe develop and implement a waste management program. Funds will support three two-day training workshops on composting and backyard gardening and to establish indigenous tree nurseries at two schools and one community ward.

Purpose: To raise awareness about the importance of wetland conservation in the Honde Valley of the Manicaland Province. Funds will be used to establish a Wetlands Environment Information Kiosk that will provide information in several, local indigenous languages about the importance of wetland conservation.

Purpose: To strengthen food security and nutrition and create job opportunities in the Dzivarasekwa Township; one of the poorest communities in Zimbabwe. Funds will be used to implement an organic greenhouse and a worm farming project in the township, and to organize workshops to educate the public on persistent organic pollutants and zero-tillage farming.

Purpose: To empower women members of the association to improve their honey products so that they can sell products at a higher price. Specifically, funds will be used to purchase and set up hives, and to purchase a computer, packing materials, and honey quality control equipment.

Purpose: To raise awareness in communities of Matabeleland, Zimbabwe about environmental issues that are affecting rural communities. The Uluntu Community Foundation will hold a workshop for women and youth on how to establish and manage community gardens, help with the establishment of these community gardens, and partner with government agencies to promote reforestation programs.

Purpose: To engage in climate change platforms and projects including the participation in civil society activities that will take place in Durban, South Africa during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Funds will also help record and publish how communities are affected by climate change and use community input to participate in a road show aimed at mobilizing and raising awareness amongst communities across Africa about the ramifications of climate change.

Purpose: To encourage participation in ongoing mining and policy reform initiatives and platforms. Funds will be used to support the attendance of two community members from Mutoko and Chiadzwa, Zimbabwe at the National Campaign Forum of the National Coalition on Mining which will take place in the Presea-Huni Valley District of Ghana and bring together about 500 representatives from communities affected by mining.

Purpose: To educate marginalized youth about climate change and other environmental issues and enable them to participate in discussions about national and international environmental policies. The funds will be used to hold strategic planning workshops, focus group discussions, awareness raising campaigns and capacity building workshops.

Purpose: To teach the youth in Zimbabwean schools about the importance of environmental conservation. The Sustainable Environmental Conservation Trust will plant 40 fruit and indigenous trees at various schools; plant 100 fruit trees at 100 households; conduct trainings on drying, packaging, and bottling of fruit; provide women with financial management training; and establish indigenous tree nurseries in schools and communities.

Purpose: To promote environmental awareness through practical waste collection actions and meetings in Mbare. Fund will be used to organize the collection and sorting of waste bottles and plastics, and to strengthen the institutional capacity of the organization

Purpose: To promote the inclusion of organic agriculture at the policy level by increasing awareness of its benefits and by providing information and technical support to the organic sector. The organization seeks to promote organic agriculture, and to improve livelihoods and reduce farmers' dependency on chemical and seed companies in doing so.

Purpose: To assist the student run group in raising awareness about human impacts on the environment and to increase the public's understanding of environmental issues, especially climate change. They will organize presentations about waste management, climate change, and water pollution; organize a clean-up campaign in the Tynwald South residential area; attend two environmental seminars in Harare; and conduct research about climate change adaptation that will be distributed to students at Mother Touch high school and the surrounding communities.

Purpose: To conduct an assessment of the environmental impact of diamond mining activities, and to organize reclamation and reforestation activities to help rehabilitate the land around former mines. Additionally, funds will be used to raise awareness at the local level about the impacts of diamond mining, and to train local leaders on environmental issues.

Purpose: To collaborate with the Climate Change Working Group in order to increase collaboration between climate change-oriented organizations in Zimbabwe and the government on climate change strategy; and to strengthen the capacity of civil society in climate change decision-making at the national level. Funds will be used to organize meetings with the government by establishing a shared common framework for the Climate Change Working Group that can be used as leverage for engagement.

Purpose: To advocate for the inclusion of environmental rights in the proposed Zimbabwean constitution. Funds will be used to hold meetings to define these specific rights, and to create informational brochures advertising the group's position on the constitutional reform process.

Purpose: To contribute to the infrastructure of a non-consumptive ecotourism project in the Ngomakurira Hills, a heritage site located approximately 30 miles from Harare.. Specifically, funds will be used to install a water pump, to construct washing facilities, and to hold workshops on environmental and ecotourism education in the involved communities.

Purpose: To establish a community-based waste management group in the Highfields residential area. Additional activities include educating the group about waste sorting, creating a database for buyers of solid waste, and collecting protective clothing to be worn by the waste sorters.

Purpose: To support a variety of projects including a tree nursery, an herb garden, and a community tree planting day. This organization works to encourage sustainable community development in Dzivarasekwa Township, one of the poorest communities in Zimbabwe.

Purpose: To expand its environmental law education and reform program, in order to meet the increasing demand for its environmental law workshops. This organization seeks to use the law as a tool to promote environmental justice and sustainable development.

Purpose: To cover costs to provide electrification of the organization's Environmental and Cultural Center, which is used to promote sustainable tourism around the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park Conservation Area. Also to develop a grain processing facility so that communities can process their crops sustainably and efficiently.

Purpose: To support Basilwizi Trust and the communities of the Zambezi Valley in advocating for social and environmental responsibility. This grant will address the harm done to forcibly relocated Tongan and Korekore people, the need for more inclusive and participatory policy-making processes, inadequate management of natural resources in the Valley, and continuing concerns over the distribution of benefits from the Kariba Dam.
