Purpose: To conduct "Phase 2 National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Legal Research" which will examine the status of cases and the legal case management processes of the NCIP. The project aims to identify and create strategies for cases that should be immediately addressed by NCIP, as well as review the extent to which customary laws are incorporated in the Rules of Procedure and actual practice. Additionally, the project will identify strengths and weaknesses of the existing case management system of NCIP.

Purpose: To promote proper tree management and promotion of agro-forestry practices. The group will purchase and plant tree seedlings and conduct workshops for the local community.

Purpose: To help the community support sustainable management of the Indigenous Community Conservation Area. The group will also promote environmentally friendly organic farming and cattle breeding practices.

Purpose: To help local indigenous communities improve their livelihoods and utilize natural resources effectively. The group will use the funds to promote organic farming, particularly with rice.

Purpose: To provide medical support to a key Banwaon leader, who is working with the Samdhana Institute to foster economic empowerment, development, and peace in the Banwaon community. This leader is working to build a tripartite relationship between the local community, private investors, and government agencies.

Purpose: To create an overview on the status of legal cases and case management processes of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP). The group will support lawyers identifying urgent and strategic cases that the NCIP should immediately address. These lawyers will also review how incorporated customary laws are in the Rules of Procedure and identify strengths and weaknesses of NCIP's case management system.

Purpose: To construct a "Kolang Banua" or a cultural educational center for the indigenous community. This center will help the community advocate against mining in Palawan.

Purpose: To provide basic shelter to Higaonon evacuees escaping military actions. The indigenous group has sought temporary refuge in Misamis Oriental.

Purpose: To promote and support women leaders in the Subanen culture. The group will help traditional consensus-building processes to affirm the role of Subanen women leaders and improve their opportunities.

Purpose: To help the B'laan community recover from harassment and violence. The group will work to document cases of harassment suffered by the community.

Purpose: To support community monitoring and data gathering of carbon credits in community-managed forests in Nueva Vizcaya. The group will help the community prepare its business portfolio for the voluntary carbon market.

Purpose: To support the attendance of indigenous participants in Samdhana's training and capacity building workshops. These workshops will cover indigenous rights, strategies, and discussions on the presence of mining in communities.

Purpose: To advance equitable and sustainable resource management and promote women empowerment. The group will organize workshops on leadership and permanent agriculture practices. It will also plant permanent crops in an effort to reduce pressure on local forests.

Purpose: To support the attendance of indigenous participants in Samdhana's training and capacity building workshops. These workshops will cover indigenous rights, strategies, and discussions on the presence of mining in communities.

Purpose: To engage students from the Bayanga National High School in the discussion of community knowledge and a plan of action for rehabilitation activities. Funds will be used to carry out a water quality assessment project on the Monigue River and to analyze its potential impact on drinking water.

Purpose: To improve food security, livelihoods, and environmental health within and around the community. The group will support lemongrass oil pressing and reforestation projects while promoting multi-cropping and diversification on local farms.

Purpose: To support agricultural productivity, economic empowerment, and tribal unity. The community will improve livelihood activities through expanded initiatives and development of communal areas for diversified farming and a processing area for lemongrass and strawberries.

Purpose: To enable the indigenous communities of the Northern Luzon Cordillera in the Philippines to participate in a climate change conference. Funds will be used to cover travel expenses for two representatives.

Purpose: To conserve the Agusan Marsh through awareness raising and direct nature protection activities. An Agusan Marsh Biodiversity Learning Center will be established and utilized for community meetings and educational purposes, enhancing the capacity of communities to host and educate visitors about the conservation of the Agusan Marsh.

Purpose: To support capacity building and awareness raising among local communities in the Banwaon area. Funds will be used to address the cultural conflict in Banwaon and implement a peace pact.

Purpose: To protect traditional lifestyles and promote traditional resource management of the Apo Man-ohay Clan community. Funds will be used to support the Delineation and Titling of Ancestral Land Claim Project which will aim to empower the Apo Man-ohay Clan indigenous people.

Purpose: To promote community-based sustainable fishing through the Fish Culture Improvement Project of Caniolan. The association works to create and promote environmentally sustainable local practices in order to protect local biodiversity and to refrain from depending on external assistance.

Purpose: To collaborate with indigenous peoples' groups in Indonesia to secure justice, protect their ancestral domains, and preserve their cultural heritage. Funds will be used to accelerate poverty alleviation and address food security issues among Pulanguinhon members.

Purpose: To mitigate environmental degradation and support economic development efforts in the Manobo Dulangan tribe's ancentral domain. Funds will be used to support farm diversification and agro-forestry, to develop nurseries for indigenous coffee farmers, and to link farmers to advantageous partners.

Purpose: To promote traditional hand-weaving production as a means to support culture and traditional revival of local communities. A series of activities will be established to reinforce knowledge of dress-making, with the aim of improving income by supporting traditional weaving, embroidery, and clothes-making in the community.

Purpose: To promote sustainable agriculture among local communities in the Menuvu territory. A project will be initiated to establish a communal farming system, as well as a model for organic farming and livestock.

Purpose: To support capacity building and raise awareness among local communities in the Banwaon area. Funds will help strengthen traditional Banwaon governance structure, establish a nursery for reforestation, and conduct resource inventory within the indigenous territories.

Purpose: To improve and protect the traditional lifestyles of local communities in Menuvu territory. The group will conduct an appraisal of the present condition of communities affected by the recent armed conflict in Menuvu territory, and then propose equitable, honest, and well-defined interventions.

Purpose: To promote capacity building, socioeconomic development, indigenous culture, and environmental preservation in Indonesia. Funds will help to support the most disadvantaged citizens to increase household incomes through new farming techniques, such as organic production of vegetables, in an effort to shift away from the heavy use of agro-chemicals.

Purpose: To eradicate poverty among the indigenous Menuvu peoples and promote traditional methods of natural resources protection and development within the ancestral domain. Funds will be used create an agroforestry farm project.

Purpose: To empower the marginalized and disenfranchised sectors in the Philippines that are dependent on natural resources via community management and traditional governance. Food security will be improved at the local level by supporting the cultivation of 80 hectares of rice and implementing new sustainable rice production technology.

Purpose: To assist the organization in facilitating a visioning and planning process for a community development plan and to implement diversified livelihood projects within the Pamalihi ancestral domain. The Council, an indigenous peoples’ organization of Higaonons in the Municipalities of Balingasag and Claveria, in the Misamis Oriental Province, is working to secure, develop, and manage ancestral domain and the right to self-determination.

Purpose: To provide asylum to indigenous leaders opposing the Integrated Forest Management Agreements (IFMA) Project within their ancestral domains. The organization will collaborate with local non-governmental organizations and churches to provide leaders and their families with shelter, basic logistical support, and alternative livelihoods.

Purpose: To introduce indigenous Llianen families to organic and diversified farming techniques. Funds will develop a five-hectare collective farm in the Ubpaan area.

Purpose: To support traditional rituals for naming Higa-onon tribal leaders in Barangays, Kinawe, and Kili-og, Bukidnon. In addition to strengthening traditional leadership, the organization will develop action and development plans for a federation of local indigenous peoples.

Purpose: To protect and sustainably develop the ancestral domains of the Banwaon indigenous group San Luis, Agusan del Sur. Funds will support a General Assembly of Tagdumahan's leaders and a pilot agricultural project that aims to develop sources of income for community members.

Purpose: To empower the indigenous people of Don Panaca. Funds will be used to support the peoples' claim to their ancestral domain and their efforts to protect and preserve their natural resources.

Purpose: To enhance leadership and develop communities among the Baglalan indigenous peoples by supporting a traditional education system. Funds will be used to construct educational facilities, develop modules, install a pilot farm and nursery, and conduct sessions for basic and advanced courses.

Purpose: To support the indigenous peoples of southern Bukidnon, Mindanao, in their efforts to protect their ancestral domain. Funds will support a peace and development advocacy project to strengthen territorial rights, both internally and externally.

Purpose: To support community development while ensuring the food security of the Subanons indigenous population. The organization will establish a communal farm with a nursery.

Purpose: To support the "Brgy Anislagan Watershed Defense Project," an initiative that is meant to strengthen community protection of the local watersheds. Planned activities include: lobbying for a resolution; mobilization of the community and local government in protecting the area; and planning for and designing the watershed protection project.

Purpose: To support the Regional Conference on Indigenous Peoples and the Changing Environment. The organization works to protect the rights of agricultural workers, women, and indigenous peoples on the island of Mindanao through research, communication, and advocacy.

Purpose: To provide relief to families who were displaced from their land as a result of development projects. Funds will go toward assisting several Dulangan Manobo families of Sitio Maloglog, Barangay Tubak, Ampatuan, and Maguindanao.

Purpose: To enable four community health workers to attend a capacity building workshop focused on health education and skills training. The organization serves low income and indigenous populations by providing assistance for health care, education and skills training, and income generating projects for poor communities.

Purpose: To celebrate the 2009 Cordillera Day. The goal of the organization is to support and strengthen the capacity of indigenous organizations and communities of the Cordillera region to assess their human and collective rights

Purpose: To support a small-scale project that will establish micro enterprises in the community of Sumilao. Specifically, the organization will help participants solicit support for their work through the Municipal Tribal Council of Sumilao.

Purpose: To united the five ethnographic sub-groups of Mindanao in an effort to defend their culture against national oppression and environmental justice.

Purpose: To support a direct action called Cultural Caravan for the Environment. The organization engages youth activists in a campaign to oppose destructive large-scale mining projects and other forms of development that bring negative environmental and social impacts to local communities.

Purpose: To support a campaign entitled Strengthening Grassroots Constituency Against Aerial Spraying of Pesticides to Protect People's Environmental Rights. Specifically, the campaign will mobilize national nonprofits, alternative law groups, and academics.

Purpose: To support a ritual gathering of indigenous leaders. The organization promotes indigenous peoples’ campaigns for self-determination and governance over their natural resources.

Purpose: To ensure food security rights of the indigenous peoples in Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon. The organization will work with these groups to strengthen their self-governance processes, consensus building, and conflict resolution.

Purpose: To develop a community organic agriculture program, with participation from local children. This organization promotes environmental education for all children in the communities where it works.

Purpose: To create an ethnic dance group to highlight and promote the cultural traditions of the Higaonon indigenous people. This organization aims to improve community dialogue on sensitive cultural issues and engage students from indigenous communities.

Purpose: This organization works to settle conflicts between the Muslims, Christians, and Lumad in the region and to preserve indigenous culture and their right to self-determination. The group was formed to protect the ancestral domains of indigenous groups in the area.

Purpose: To complete community-based reviews of proposed cassava plantations and an ethanol processing plant. The organization will raise public awareness about the potential impacts of this development on land and water resources and will work to build a broad alliance of groups focused on this issue.

Purpose: To work towards protected designation of 1 million hectares of forested ancestral indigenous lands, through traditional tribal proceedings. This organization promotes sustainable development and natural resource conservation through the establishment of protected watersheds, nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, and designated indigenous ancestral lands.

Purpose: To strengthen the Protected Area Management initiatives of the Bukidnon Daraghuyan indigenous community by promoting community-based environmental advocacy efforts, with special attention to gender-related interests. Activities include capacity-building programs for the community's Tribal Council; community workshops; and a gardening program for tribal clans in the area.

Purpose: To support a campaign that assesses the environmental impacts of mining and logging through documentation of indigenous knowledge and practices. The organization works to improve the quality of life among members of the Subanon indigenous group, and to promote their cultural and ancestral land rights.

Purpose: To cover consulting costs for a series of meetings among Manila-based indigenous peoples, networks, and institutions, which aim to evaluate the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of the Philippines. Participants will focus on strengthening coalitions and building consensus among indigenous activists, and on preparing for the Indigenous Peoples Forum, to be held in on Indigenous Peoples Day, August 8.

Purpose: To support farmers from Sumilao in their demonstration against an agrarian reform program that failed to adequately protect the country's most valuable agricultural lands from development. The organization works to empower marginalized communities, with an emphasis on non-violent advocacy, and promotes citizen participation in policymaking processes.

Purpose: To allow the Foundation to provide capacity-building training, for leaders of a local organization, that focuses on government-targeted advocacy strategies and paralegal education. The Foundation supports community organizing in depressed urban areas and advocates for land tenure reform.

Purpose: To construct a facility so that the Luta-Pullaan Women's Group can produce herbal medicines. As a result, this indigenous-run cooperative can improve the health of their communities while achieving economic stability for their families.

Purpose: To support this organization in increasing its leadership and management capacity, as well as to explore income-generating possibilities for the region. This is the first clan-based organization of the Mansaka tribe, and was founded by elders.

Purpose: To strengthen traditional governing structures and facilitate community development plans. A general assembly will be held to bring together traditional tribal representatives.

Purpose: To support a honey production project for indigenous communities in Palawan. Activities include installing a honey processing facility, designing sustainable resource management plans for forests in the region, and documenting the experience to serve a guide for future projects.

Purpose: To revitalize tribal governance structures and increase capacity to manage the clan's territory. The first step will be to officially delineate the clan's territory.

Purpose: To improve healthcare services to rural communities in Libungan and Cotabato. Activities include improving clinic facilities in the area so that they can provide herbal traditional medicines and therapy services.

Purpose: To support castor bean oil production as a sustainable livelihood alternative. Castor bean production also works as a mechanism to mitigate global warming, as every hectare of castor beans absorbs 35 thousand kilos of carbon dioxide, as well as promoting soil and water conservation.

Purpose: To create a sustainable forestry income generation project for 80 families in Bukidnon. This is the Federation for the indigenous Higaonon Peoples, which strives to achieve ancestral domain and empower traditional governance structures.

Purpose: To hold a march to bring attention to the need for agrarian reform. The march will begin in Sumilao and end two months later in Manila, and will be complemented by education activities along the route.

Purpose: To hold the first community meeting to discuss the Toronto Ventures proposed large-scale mining project. The project encroaches on ancestral domain and disregards traditional community practices.

Purpose: NATABUK is the umbrella organization of eight Indigenous Peoples Organizations in Southern Mindanao. The grant funds several projects to support indigenous communities' land claims under the Ancestral Domain provisions of Philippine law.

Purpose: The Inenekan en ni Apù Putian works to help the indigenous Lumad people strengthen their traditional societal structure and maintain their way of life. This grant supports them in purchasing equipment for a plant nursery and creating a revolving fund to support small-scale agricultural production.

Purpose: To support the rehabilitation of Balanacan Cove, particularly its mangroves. Also to generate additional income for local residents and to promote local eco-tourism.

Purpose: The Philippine Community Organizers’ Society (PhilCOS), is an association of direct and indirect community organizers involved with social, environmental and political movements. This grant will fund a mobilization in opposition to the planned transformation of the Philippine Congress into a Constituent Assembly.

Purpose: To fund the Solidarity March for Land and Life. The indigenous people of South Palawan, together with long- time settlers, will take to the highways for a historic March from Rio Tuba to Puerto Princesa.

Purpose: Derepa te Erumanen ne Menuvù is an indigenous organization active in conflict resolution and youth leadership development. This grant will provide bridge funding for the organization, which is working with its many partners to arrange longer-term support.

Purpose: PAMANA Ka Sa Pilipinas is a national alliance of community-based Marine Protected Areas, and it works to protect both the natural environment and the livelihoods of small fishers. This grant supports PAMANA Ka Sa Pilipinas in a campaign to delineate enforcement boundaries for 22 coastal municipalities.

Purpose: To fund a video documentary on sustainable management of gaharu trees in East Kalimantan.
