Purpose: To support food security and sustainable farming programs, especially those that incorporate local indigenous knowledge. Activities include developing land management programs that ensure the sustainable use and management of agricultural resources.

Purpose: To organize a 7-day retreat for all project staff upon completion of a three year project cycle. At the retreat staff will evaluate past projects around forest resource management, reflect upon lessons learned, and complete strategic planning for 2008-2010 activities.

Purpose: The goal of KESAN is to increase the capacity of the Karen people to sustainably manage their state's forest resources. This grant will be used to establish a traditional medicine garden and center, to provide training in traditional medicine, and to produce a training manual.
