Purpose: To protect the Tambo River and Tambo Valley from pollution caused by mining. Funds will support an environmental impact study on local mining products, the results of which will be distributed to relevant stakeholders.

Purpose: To promote mining-free zones by developing ecotourism, producing educational materials, and forming a regional forum entitled, "Water, Climate Change, and Models of Development in the Piura Region." Since 2001, mining companies have been looking to develop mining projects in communal territories in the Ayabaca and Huancabamba provinces - regions that are rich for agriculture, contain large amounts of biodiversity, and host the headwaters for the Chinchipe and Quiroz rivers, all of which would be directly affected by the mining projects.

Purpose: To provide resources for marginalized groups in Peru through film production. Funds will be used to plan and implement an international film festival in collaboration with several partner organizations, including Amnesty International, focused on the extractive industries in South America.

Purpose: To support the preparation of several projects addressing the effects of mining in Cocachacra, Peru. Funds will be used to publicize 1,000 texts of "Valley of Tambo-Islay: Territory, Water, and Local Rights at Risk from Open-Pit Mining", host community workshops on issues related to the problems of mining in the region, publish a CD documenting the fight in Tambo Valley, and support the legal defense of leaders who face legal charge for their involvement in a protest strike that helped stop the Tia Maria mining project.

Purpose: To provide defense to the indigenous populations near the Kugapakori Nahua Reserve in Lima, Peru which is being threatened by the expansion of the Camisea Gas Project. Funds will be used to support technical environmental impact assessments, investigations on the socio-environmental impacts of the projects, exploration and implementation of awareness campaigns and possible legal action, and coordination with affected communities to create a united front against the project's expansion.

Purpose: To defend the collective rights of communities impacted by mining activities in Lima, Peru by attending a bi-annual meeting in Bogota, Colombia. Funds will be used for plane tickets, travel expenses, and for the preparation of reports and materials in order to be able to share experiences with other organizations on resistance of mining projects.

Purpose: To raise the profile of environmental justice cases to the public, develop proposals for sustainable development, and strengthen the capacity of local actors who are intervening in extractive industry cases. A meeting will be organized to enable organizations to network and share experiences and strategies with other like-minded organizations, and develop a more robust understanding of effective ways to mitigate damages from extractive projects.

Purpose: To create logistical support related to the "Extraordinary Congress of the Asháninkas Communities" held in March 2010 in Aerija, Peru. The aim of the meeting was to bring together more than 300 elected delegates from indigenous communities to discuss an array of issues, including floodplain management on the Urubamba and Ucayali rivers; the environmental and cultural impacts of oil operations in Atalaya; and other challenges to indigenous rights.

Purpose: To send members of the group to the Fourth National Congress of Mining Affected Communities in Peru in April. The group defends the collective rights, territories, environment, and cultural identity of the communities in the Pasco region.

Purpose: To raise awareness about hazardous material spills and what to do in the event of a spill in the districts of Cajacay, Pampas Chico, and Antonio Raymondi - all places hazardous waste is commonly transported. Additionally, funds will be used to create a network of environmental monitors and implement campaigns for the communities affected by large mining projects.

Purpose: To protect biodiversity by discouraging the use of genetically modified crops. Funds will produce and distribute a documentary about regions that have been declared free from genetically modified crop varieties, focusing on the value of these zones.

Purpose: To build capacity and raise awareness among indigenous groups about issues related to large infrastructure projects in the Ucayali region. Funds will support workshops to address impacts of development and their evaluation and to pay for a flyover of the region for more accurate mapping and assessment.

Purpose: To document, disseminate information about, and denounce the human and environmental rights abuses associated with resource extraction in Peru. Funds will be used to organize a public education campaign centered around the group's new documentary, Operación Diablo, (English: The Devil Operation) that details the conflict between communities and the mining industry in Peru.

Purpose: To organize several community meetings, one regional meeting and a public forum about water resource problems, how they are related to mining activities, and the impacts of climate change. Additionally, funds will be used to: produce a weekly radio show about water, mining and climate change; create and disseminate a newsletter; and to support the general expenses of the organization.

Purpose: To counteract women's rights violations, including increasing domestic violence, by developing a women's rights campaign in the district of Iparía. Funds will support the publication of printed materials and the rental of a boat, which will enable consultants and managers to visit women across the district and better identify the cultural and socio-economic issues that they face.

Purpose: To reinstate the city’s environmental management plan, and to monitor the governance of the current mayor, who entered office after corruption scandals forced the resignation of his predecessor. The organization will hold workshops to build community monitoring and oversight teams, and will initiate public campaigns calling for improvement in the city’s environmental management plans.

Purpose: To create a Mining Truth Commission that will investigate the legitimacy of the activities of mining companies such as Yanacocha and Doe Run Perú. Raising awareness about the socio-environmental impacts that these companies have had on surrounding communities will help Colectivo Manos Limpias advocate for mining practices that respect human rights and the environment.

Purpose: To organize six meetings of eleven organizations to develop a strategy to strengthen the collective's ability to educate decision makers about the dangers of transgenic seeds and the benefits of native seeds. Additional activities include raising awareness amongst the general public about the risks of transgenic seeds through activities, such as the development of a blog and DVD.

Purpose: To cover administrative and logistical costs that will help Amo Amazonía successfully execute their annual festival. Amo Amazonía seeks to promote the participation of urban populations in activities related to raising awareness of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and its people, thus developing a desire to understand and protect them.

Purpose: To organize a campaign against the Southern Peru mining company; the mining work is threatening the community's land and wellbeing. Activities include holding workshops to strategize nonviolent campaign tactics and training people to investigate and document the negative socio-environmental impacts of the mining.

Purpose: To support community meetings about tourism and the environment in the regions of Shipibas de Panaillo, Shambo Porvenir, Nueva Esperanza de Panaillo, y Puerto Callao. The organization aims to promote sustainable development in Amazonian regions, without negatively impacting the Amazonian ecology.

Purpose: To raise awareness about the need to rehabilitate and conserve the dry forest of Lomas de Carabayllo, and to work at the local and national level to have these forests declared a natural reserve. In doing so, the group will organize two workshops, develop and disseminate material about the importance of the forests, and run education campaigns to be aired on the community radio station.

Purpose: To organize capacity building workshops for women in the area around the Las Bambas mine to raise awareness about their rights, the mining process, environmental impacts, and income inequity between the sexes to better enable these women to participate in decision making processes.

Purpose: To hold an emergency meeting of the area's traditional leaders to discuss strategies to resist the government's proposed transoceanic highway. This organization seeks to preserve the cultural heritage and diversity of 22 indigenous communities of the Masisea District by promoting environmental sustainability and defending the communities' ancestral lands.

Purpose: To send several Indigenous leaders and other members of civil society to a two-day forum that will discuss strategies for monitoring the Camisea Natural Gas Project. The Shinai organization works as an advocacy group for the indigenous people who inhabit the forests of southern Peru.

Purpose: To raise awareness about the effects of two fish meal plants proposed to be built in the Arequipa region. Funds will be used to develop an awareness campaign, and to develop and implement a legal strategy to combat the establishment of these plants.

Purpose: To hold the group's first regional Congress, which will address issues including sustainable agriculture and new mining projects planned for Moquegua. This organization aims to protect biodiversity through sustainable natural resource management.

Purpose: To rehabilitate the wetlands in the community of Titire; activities include holding workshops to educate about the importance of wetlands, assessing the current health of the area, and restoring irrigation canals and native vegetation.

Purpose: To hold leadership training workshops on environmental conflict resolution for rural communities affected by mining. The group will also produce radio spots about the legal rights of communities threatened by mining.

Purpose: To protect the dry forest habitat in the area around Lomas de Carabayllo, which is threatened by illegal mining and unsustainable farming. This youth network runs a community radio program and holds workshops on environmental issues for students and the public.

Purpose: To protect the Lambramani Park in Arequipa. Activities include holding two capacity building workshops to increase citizen participation in local political practices.

Purpose: To build awareness about the negative health impacts of contamination and industrial pollution generated by La Oroya's Doe Run-owned smelter. The campaign will include medical treatment for residents suffering from lead poisoning by bringing in 30 visiting doctors and medical supplies.

Purpose: To hold a series of workshops to increase public awareness about the negative impacts of mining, including cyanide contamination, in the Buenavista Alta and Casma districts. Activities include creating networks and alliances with local, district, and provincial government representatives to press for halting the implementation of a proposed ore processing plant.

Purpose: To strengthen campaigns around lead contamination and dumping wastewater directly into the sea. Activities include distributing information about these issues and holding public presentations to increase public awareness.

Purpose: To perform diagnostic tests on the health of the Abujao River and the people that live along its banks; this area has been contaminated by mercury used in gold mining at the mouth of the river. The results of the study will be presented to local authorities.

Purpose: To continue the legal case against the Yanacocha gold mine (owned by Newmont) and raise awareness about the negative effects of the current mine and its intended expansion on surrounding communities. Funds will also be used to analyze how to safely continue GRUFIDES' advocacy work in the light of recent death threats and abduction attempts against the group's leaders.

Purpose: To support the development of small community groups that have formed in response to the pressures of mining and other extractive industries. Activities include workshops and facilitating networks among communities, with the goal of raising awareness about the negative impacts of mining.

Purpose: To strengthen a community-based campaign to pressure the Aruntani mining company for increased social and environmental accountability. Workshops will be held in three affected communities and will culminate in a march to the city of Moquegua.

Purpose: To support a campaign to set sustainable limits on catches and establish standards of environmental quality for the fishing industry. Activities will include a workshop to initiate the campaign, lobbying of specific departments of the government, press conferences, and radio and television ads.

Purpose: To hold a workshop about environmental rights, based on the experience of this grassroots organization over the last ten years. This organization works to defend the collective rights of the indigenous communities negatively impacted by mining in the region.

Purpose: To support this youth-run environmental network in its public education campaign regarding good practices in natural resource management. Specifically, funds will be used to build and maintain a website, produce radio spots, and design and produce t-shirts and music to increase the campaign's effectiveness.

Purpose: To fund an environmental education program in 30 schools across the country. The program will include creation of school environmental groups, as well as implementation of follow-up activities.

Purpose: To fund travel for 15 leaders from various sectors of society to attend a public presentation on IIRSA, a massive infrastructure-development project. This national workshop -- Peru's biggest open dialogue on the IIRSA Project -- will seek to educate attendees on the risks associated with IIRSA and the benefits of finding alternatives.

Purpose: FECONACO represents the indigenous communities of the Corrientes River basin in the region of Loreto. This grant will support FECONACO in its work to improve indigenous health, defend traditional lands, and conserve the natural environment on which the communities depend.

Purpose: To support development of a common advocacy strategy for three indigenous organizations: Aidesep, Racimos de Ungurahui, and Shinai. The strategy will address indigenous rights, extractive activities, and the threats that the IIRSA infrastructure development project poses to indigenous lands and the environment.
