Leslie Allen is Greengrants' New Director of Development and Communications
August 25, 2006 |
This month, Leslie Allen takes over as Greengrants' Director of Development and Communications.
Leslie has a long record of working for the environment, social justice and peace. For the last fourteen years she has been with Greenpeace US, most recently as their Deputy Director of Development. "I'm very eager to bring my experience from Greenpeace to Greengrants. It's a natural step."
Leslie has a bachelor's degree in Russian Studies from Drew University and an MBA in public and non-profit management. She has also worked for Citizens Exchange Council in New York City and the Union of Concerned as a Herbert Scoville Fellow in Washington, DC.
Leslie is a Quaker, and for the last two years she has devoted herself to helping to raise $4 million to build the largest straw bale structure in the United States for Friends Community School of College Park, Maryland.
At Greengrants, Leslie plans to focus much of her attention on building an individual donor program. "I am very excited about connecting people's philanthropic dreams with the amazing work being funded by Greengrants around the world," says Leslie.
Leslie has just moved to Boulder to join the Greengrants staff and lives with her husband, Jamie; three children; two cats and one dog.
We are delighted to have her with us, and we hope that you will be able to meet her soon.
