Small Grants by Local Experts
Global Greengrants Fund channels donations into small grants for grassroots groups seeking environmental justice.
We focus these grants in the communities that are most affected by environmental degradation and injustice—those in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and island nations.
We partner with local activists to identify the most pressing problems and promising campaigns. Then, we enable you to fund those projects.
Global Greengrants Fund has supported thousands of activists and organizations in more than 140 countries. Sometimes a small grant from us is the only financial support they receive. Often, a grant through Global Greengrants Fund enables organizations to seek out more support for their cause. Almost always, we’re providing access to resources for groups that would otherwise have none. This is why giving small grants can seed a big impact.

A $1,500 grant to the Inter-peoples' Exchange in the Philippines supported a month-long bicycle ride to raise awareness of indigenous issues. Along the way, the group used funds to host environmental activities and plant trees.
Here’s how we do it:
- Our small grants model puts the decision-making in the hands of local activists around the world. We turn traditional philanthropy upside down and seed action from the ground up. This is how lasting change happens.
- These local activists make up our regional and global advisory boards, which identify, mentor, and monitor our grantees. Find out more about each board in the ‘Our Community’ section.
- Each year we raise every dollar that we grant out. We rely on the generous contributions of individuals, select corporations, and private foundations. The more we raise, the more we can provide in small grants—so give today!
