April is Earth Month! Celebrate Our Planet with Greengrants and Aveda

April is here, which means Aveda is working hard to raise money and awareness for clean water and their global Earth Month partner – Global Greengrants Fund! Aveda and Greengrants have been partnering together for over ten years. In that time, the eco-conscious beauty and wellness company has raised nearly $3 million, supporting hundreds of projects that improve access to clean water for communities around the globe. In fact, Fast Company just did a profile on Aveda’s impressive corporate social responsibility and the Greengrants partnership. Click here to read “Aveda and the Yawanawa: CSR Chief to Chief.”

On March 22nd, World Water Day, the UN announced a study that found that dirty water kills more people than violence each year. You can help change that:

·Buy an Aveda Light the Way™ candle – 100% of the $12 sales price goes to Global Greengrants Fund and clean water projects. Scented with certified organic French lavender, these candles smell great AND help support the great work of our grantees. To find an Aveda salon near you, click here.

·Follow Greengrants on Facebook, and learn about the dozens of water-related projects we’re funding with Aveda’s support. This year’s Earth Month campaign will include easy and fun ways to raise money for and spread the word about clean water initiatives in the developing world. Aveda will also be posting on their page throughout the month, click here to join.

·Think twice about drinking bottled water. Watch Annie Leonard’s Story of Bottled Water and pursue some of the ‘Real Solutions’ she offers up on ways to change the status quo, particularly by drinking tap water. So many of us are fortunate enough to have safe, accessible tap water when over 1.1 billion people do not – take advantage of it and protect our planet.

Global Greengrants Fund

Global Greengrants Fund believes solutions to environmental harm and social injustice come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day, our global network of people on the frontlines and donors comes together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food, water, and resources, they are forces for change.
