ORGANIZATION
Global Greengrants Fund provides grants to grassroots groups around the world at the intersection of human rights and environmental sustainability. The fund’s grantmaking decisions are made by a network of over 200 activists and expert advisors located in the countries where we grant, and who are embedded in local environmental justice struggles, such as social change leaders, human rights activists, and environmental lawyers. Global Greengrants Fund has two entities—one in the US and one in the UK —with staff based around the world.
SUMMARY
Collective care is restorative, cultivates safety and solidarity, strengthens communities, repairs and regenerates relationships between people and nature, and is imperative for building community and environmental resilience. These are organizational values that we want to prioritize integrating throughout our work, not just in grantmaking, but in learning, philanthropic advocacy, and internal processes, policies, and operations.
In 2025, Global Greengrants received funding to support us in broadening understanding amongst our network of grantmaking advisors about collective care, wellbeing, and solidarity within feminist environmental organizations as a means of ensuring we are effectively channeling resources to these typically-neglected areas of work. Mirroring the priority to engage with, resource, and integrate collective care in our grantmaking, we also want to develop an internal, feminist organizational strategy and approach to collective care. Caring for ourselves and each other is both a political act of resistance and a necessity for the survival of the environmental justice movements we exist to support.
Global Greengrants is seeking a consultant or consultant team to support us in developing and accompanying our team with internal facing, feminist, organizational collective care tools and activities. The consultant will build on the work that has already been done to create an approach and strategy which will act as the organisation’s collective care framework and use learnings from Global Greengrants’ Advisory Network and from movements we support that are already engaging in collective care and feminist best practices. After an assessment of current needs and resources, and the provision of recommendations, the consultant will co-design (with Global Greengrants staff) and lead activities that build individual and collective resilience and well-being by integrating care practices throughout the organization’s work with a focus on learning, exchange, and collaborative action.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The objective of this consultancy is to contribute to strengthening Global Greengrants Fund’s culture of care by providing dedicated accompaniment to participating team members and supporting the creation of learning spaces, tools, and ways of working that centre well-being, healing, safety, and collective care. - Provide holistic group-based psychological support to selected Global Greengrants staff members (up to 20) who may be most exposed to the lived experiences of grantees through working in the organisation’s programs or grants management functions—building resilience and centered nervous systems to nurture mental health , prevent burn out, etc.
- Provide selected Global Greengrats staff members with concrete practices and tools to establish a culture of self and collective care.
- Provide confidential psychosocial support, accompany participants through moments of personal and collective reflection, and contribute to creating learning environments that uphold feminist principles of care, dignity, trust, and accountability.
- Support Global Greengrants Director of People and Culture with building and strengthening “Collective Care” as a People and Culture leadership strategy.
