Global Greengrants Fund
@ London Climate Action Week

From 20th to 28th June, London will host the eighth edition of London Climate Action Week (LCAW), bringing together 75,000 people across more than 750 events. Set at the midpoint of the diplomatic year—after the UN climate meetings in Bonn and before the world gathers at the UN General Assembly in September and annual climate COP in November—LCAW marks a key moment in the global climate calendar. This, one of the world’s largest independent climate events, seeks to bring people together in action and cooperation, harnessing the power of London for global and local climate action.

For Global Greengrants Fund, London Climate Action Week is not simply a moment on the climate calendar—it is part of a longer arc of movement building that connects frontline leaders, funders, advocates, and allies across borders and over time.

Together with our grassroots partners, we see gatherings like London Climate Action Week, COP30, New York Climate Week, and countless regional convenings as opportunities to strengthen relationships, deepen solidarity, and shift resources toward the communities already leading climate solutions. These spaces help connect local struggles to global movements, creating pathways for shared learning, collective strategy, and greater visibility for the leadership of Indigenous Peoples, women, youth, and frontline communities.

At a time when philanthropic investment remains disconnected from many of the communities most affected by climate and environmental crises, these convenings play an important role in building trust, aligning action, and advancing more equitable flows of funding and power. They also help challenge dominant narratives that position climate solutions as emerging from technology or top-down decision-making alone, highlighting instead the transformative work already underway in communities around the world.

Building on the momentum and relationships forged at COP30 and looking ahead to New York Climate Week and beyond, Global Greengrants Fund is proud to join movement partners and philanthropic leaders in conversations that strengthen the ecosystems of support needed for long-term climate and environmental justice.

During London Climate Action Week, Global Greengrants Fund will be hosting and participating in the following events:

The Infrastructure Already Exists: Unlocking Climate Philanthropy for Scaling Feminist Climate Justice – Hosted by Global Greengrants Fund and Open Society Foundations

June 23 | 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm | OSF, London

Together with Open Society Foundations, Global Greengrants is hosting a roundtable discussion that seeks to explore not only how to increase resources for feminist climate justice movements, but how to shift the norms, practices, and power dynamics that continue to prevent climate philanthropy from resourcing locally-led and movement-accountable approaches at the scale this moment demands.

Tending to the Roots, Seeding the Future: Feminist Climate Justice Responses to Democratic Erosion in Latin America and the Caribbean – Hosted by FAU-LAC (Urgent Action Fund for Latin America and the Caribbean)

June 24 | 4.00 pm – 7.00 pm | Calthorpe Community Garden, London

Fondo de Acción Urgente para América Latina y el Caribe (FAU-LAC) is facilitating a conversation featuring insightful perspectives and interventions from feminist and gender-justice actors working across the climate and environmental justice ecosystem. Together with War on Want UK and WEDO, Global Greengrants UK’s Executive Director, Nisha Owen, will explore the critical moments and possibilities to weave together movement-led responses to multiple and interconnected crises affecting Latin America and the Caribbean.

Reimaging Conservation Through Human Rights – Hosted by Global Greengrants Fund, Blue Ventures, and IMPACT Kenya

June 25 | 10:00 am – 12:30 pm | Toynbee Hall, London

Together with Blue Ventures and IMPACT Kenya, Global Greengrants is hosting a conversation exploring how rights-based approaches to conservation, alongside community-led climate funds, can strengthen both human rights and environmental outcomes.

From the Amazon to the Arctic, people and communities are increasingly raising important questions about how conservation efforts can better respect the rights, knowledge, and leadership of Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant peoples, and local communities. Bringing together environmental defenders and community leaders from Kenya, Brazil, and beyond, the discussion will examine emerging conservation approaches that are locally led, inclusive, and grounded in territorial rights and community knowledge, while also exploring how global environmental governance and processes can not only respect but better recognise, support, and directly include the communities most closely connected to the ecosystems they protect.

London Climate Action Week Gathering – Hosted by EarthPercent

June 26 | 11 am – 12.30 pm | Notting Hill, London

EarthPercent will be bringing together artists, activists, campaigners, and friends to learn about the impact of the work they support. Global Greengrants UK’s Executive Director, Nisha Owen, will be speaking alongside other EarthPercent partners in a session exploring Indigenous Leadership and highlighting the vital role of Indigenous knowledge, stewardship, and leadership in addressing the climate and biodiversity crises.
