Anwar Fazal Wins Gandhi-King-Ikeda Peace Award

Former Greengrants board member Anwar Fazal has been named a recipient of the Gandhi-King-Ikeda Peace Award from Morehouse College. Since 2001 this award has been given to those individuals whose work embodies the philosophies of Mohandas Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King and Dr. Daisaku Ikeda.

The Award recognized Anwar’s “prolific work to protect the health and welfare of comsumers worldwide” and his “endeavors to promote social ethics, human rights and environmental protection.”

In addition to serving on Greengrant’s Board of Directors, Anwar has helped to found several organizations, including the Pesticide Action Network and Health Action International. He has also served as president of Consumers International.

Currently Anwar chairs the Taiping Peace Initiative and serves as a director of Citizens International. Anwar has been a determined advocate for the welfare of people around the world and continues to work tirelessly to protect human rights and the environment.
