Annie Leonard, one of the founders of Greengrants’ India Advisory Board and longtime member of the Greengrants network, is gaining fame for her video entitled The Story of Stuff. The 20-minute, low-tech video highlights the effects of consumption on the environment and the human condition around the world. With a straightforward narrative, easy-to-follow story line, and cheerful tone but brutal message, the video has become a hit with schoolteachers striving to generate discussion among their students about the true impacts of all of the stuff’ we surround ourselves with. To date, The Story of Stuff has generated more than 6 million hits on the website, and millions more on YouTube.

The New York Times recently covered The Story of Stuff in its education section; click here to access the article. If you haven’t seen the video yet, make sure to check it out and pass it on to your friends! Congratulations, Annie, for your persistence in getting this important message about our consumer-driven culture out to the world.
