2018 Global Survey of Grassroots Grant Recipients

Every three years, Global Greengrants Fund conducts a worldwide survey of our global grantees as a way to reflect on how the organization contributes to grassroots environmental and social justice. From November 2017 to March 2018, we conducted a follow up survey to the one completed in 2015.

This year’s survey led to new and interesting findings, as well as portraying a few patterns from our last survey round.

Key themes that stood out from this survey include:

  • How our grantees see themselves as part of a movement, and their efforts to continue to build movements.
  • The very real impacts of criminalization against environmental defenders worldwide.
  • Continued growth in the area of women’s environmental action on the frontlines.

Global Greengrants Fund

Global Greengrants Fund believes solutions to environmental harm and social injustice come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day, our global network of people on the frontlines and donors comes together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food, water, and resources, they are forces for change.
