Three Ways to Take Action On Earth Day

From the Comfort of Your Own Home

As activist Dolores Huerta said, “Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world.”

Today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, a day which marks the beginning of the modern environmental movement. This year, the celebration of this day is more important than ever, as the fight to protect our planet and the future of humanity has grown even more urgent.

Over the past few months, the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has changed life as we know it.

If this moment in history has taught us anything, it’s that the time is now for systemic change. We cannot go back to business as usual. There are lessons to be learned, and applied, especially as we seek to address another looming threat – climate change.

Here are three ways to take action today, from the comfort of your own home, to protect both people and planet:

  1. #StrikeWithUs and join millions worldwide April 22-24th for a massive online mobilization to call for action on climate change. The three days of action will feature teach-ins, musical performances, and more – and all you need is an internet connection.
  2. Divest from banks that are financing destructive oil, gas, and coal projects around the world. Divesting now from fossil fuels in essential in establishing a clean energy future.
  3. Make a $50 gift to Global Greengrants Fund. Grassroots activists worldwide are wasting no time and acting now to protect our planet. Invest in their critical contributions and help them work toward a healthier future for all.
